McDonald's reports fast-food outlets staffed by over-60s more profitable

 

LONDON - McDonald's is claiming that employing people over the age of 60 in its restaurants makes them more profitable and improves customer satisfaction by an average of 20%.

The improvement was attributed to the experience of the older staff, their work ethic and their skills in dealing with customers face-to-face. McDonald's has said that despite the business case, it would not commit to having older staff in all its restaurants.

The findings were based on research carried out by Lancaster University Management School, which analysed data from 400 of the chain's restaurants.
