LONDON - Channel 4 is approaching brands to advertise around a week of Indian-themed programming in January.

The India Season strand will showcase the country's culture, cuisine and social issues. It will begin with the TV premiere of Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire.

The broadcaster is talking to advertisers about cross-marketing promotions, spot campaigns and an Indian-themed break. It is also offering financial help for first-time advertisers to launch TV campaigns.

Included in the programming will be a one-off episode of The Secret Millionaire called The Slumdog Secret Millionaire, in which a British Indian entrepreneur will be shown leaving behind her affluent lifestyle to go incognito in India.
