VisitBritain relaunches global website for 2012 push providing more personalised content providing more personalised content

VisitBritain has relaunched its global consumer-facing website, as it looks to attract visitors in the build-up to the 2012 Olympic Games.

The domestic tourism body hired SapientNitro to create the new site,, with the aim of providing more personalised content, tailored to the country the visitor comes from.

VisitBritain has partnered with online photo-sharing site Flickr to create a series of picture galleries. The site will also host magazine-style travel features to showcase various parts of the British Isles.

Laurence Bresh, director of marketing at VisitBritain, said: "The new website is key to delivering our strategy to inspire visitors to visit Britain before, during, and after the Olympic Games."

He added: "Our current 32 million overseas visitors contribute £16.5bn of revenue to the UK economy. We have stretching targets to grow that figure, so it is vital that we inspire them and make it straightforward to plan their visit here. The site is available in 22 languages to ensure our reach is truly global," he added.

Earlier this week, culture secretary Jeremy Hunt promised to deliver £1bn-worth in PR and marketing exposure for Britain in the build-up to 2012.
