We'll Call You - Pizza Hut

Pizza Hut

In a bid to raise its health credentials, Pizza Hut is offering free unlimited salads to customers. Mole rang to see whether there is such a thing as a free lunch.

Pizza Hut: Good morning, Pizza Hut customer services, you're through to (name), how can I help?

Mktg: Hi, I saw the excellent deal you're doing with free salads. My nephew wants to go to Pizza Hut tomorrow with a bunch of people and I wanted to know if three of you go to Pizza Hut and only two of you order a pizza, can you get the unlimited salad for the third person?

Pizza Hut: With regards to that, the two main courses would be the people who get the free salad, the third person would need to order their own main course to get their salad for free.

Mktg: Say one of the kids we're with isn't particularly hungry, would we be able to give them one of our salads?

Pizza Hut: That shouldn't be too much of an issue, it would be down to the manager's discretion. It might be worth calling the branch. The terms and conditions require them to order a meal, but I shouldn't see that as being an issue.

Mktg: So it should be OK as long as it's a kid? Some of us eat at funny times of the day. I probably won't want to eat a big pizza myself, I'll probably just want a bowl of salad, but then surely if I were to get a salad, I would get a free unlimited salad with it, which would be a bit pointless.

Pizza Hut: I see what you're saying. If you ordered a salad as a main course, then you would get a salad for free. I understand your point, but I think the decision would need to be made by the manager, and they are told a main course needs to be ordered to get the free salad.

Mktg: OK, I'll give them a call. Thanks for your help.

Pizza Hut: Thanks for your call.

The call-handler was friendly and professional. He dealt with our enquiries sensitively, offering to find the number for a specific Pizza Hut branch so we could call and find out what we could order under the deal.
