It is plotting a series of promotions in the latter part of the 2011/12 season, which begins this weekend.
Rather than target international fans, in countries such as China and the US, the activity is expected to focus on football supporters in the UK.
Activity will be launched in conjunction with the Premier League’s commercial partners, which include Barclays, Nike, Lucozade, Yahoo! and EA Sports.
The first set of Premier League fixtures took place on 15 August 1992. The league comprised 22 teams that had broken away from the previous top league, the First Division.
