Mole was at last ready to embrace modern technology and buy a Samsung tablet when we read of a legal dispute it has with Apple. We called to find out more.

Samsung Hi, this is Samsung Mobile, how are you today?

Mktg Hi, I was thinking of buying a Samsung Galaxy tablet, but I've read that Samsung has been sued by Apple and you can't buy them. I'm confused; are they available?

Samsung If you are talking about the Galaxy Tab 10.1, it is available at the moment in all of Europe, except Germany. If you are in the UK, you can just head to a retailer and get one.

Mktg Really? Because I read they were off the market in all of Europe, not just Germany.

Samsung I know, but the case is still in the courts, so we are still selling these tablets. If you go to the retailer and ask for one, you will find one.

Mktg What about all the other Galaxy products, could they be taken off the market because of all this?

Samsung No, the Galaxy series is OK, you can get those products any time, no worries.

Mktg OK, so how much do the Galaxy tablets cost?

Samsung If you like you can go to the website, go to 'retail locations', find the number of the nearest retailer to you and call them to ask about tablet prices.

Mktg But I shouldn't have any problem buying them, then?

Samsung No, no worries.

Mktg If Apple wins the legal battle, does that mean Samsung will stop selling them?

Samsung All the information that we have at the moment is that it is available for sale.

Mktg What if I wanted one for Christmas, how do I know they will still be on sale?

Samsung Well, I'm afraid there isn't a way to tell. We don't know how it will go in court.

Mktg OK, thanks for your help.

Samsung Is there anything else I can help you with?

Mktg That's all, thank you.

Samsung OK, have a nice day.


The call-handler was polite and kept her answers to the point. She seemed well-briefed about the case, which is impressive as the outcome of the dispute is difficult to predict.
