Brand Manager of the Week: Bridgette Dewar-Mannl

Senior marketing and communications manager, Food Network EMEA

Describe yourself in three words.

Excitable, ambitious, honest.

How would you define marketing?

An integration of everything I love doing.

What would you be if you weren't a brand manager?

An actress.

What advice would you give someone starting their marketing career?

Realise that it's important to start at the bottom, as that's where you develop the skills that make you good at your job later on.

What attracted you to your current job?

Food Network launched in the UK only two and a half years ago, but we are now the number one lifestyle channel in the UK - it's a very exciting time to work here.

What was your first job?

An integrated agency, called Acumen Republic, in Wellington, New Zealand.

What hobbies do you have?

Netball, cycling, socialising with friends at the pub.

What makes you angry?

People who can't spell.

What's your favourite holiday destination?

Thailand. It's so beautiful, and makes a great stopover on the way to New Zealand.

If you weren't you, who would you be?

A 40s or 50s actress like Veronica Lake or Marilyn Monroe.

What's your favourite pub?

Steins in Richmond - my husband is slowly indoctrinating me into German culture with schnitzel and beer.

What other languages do you speak?

A little German - very badly.

If you were a brand, what would you be and why?

The Beckhams. Who wouldn't want to be them?

If you could get tickets to any event, what would it be?

Freddie Mercury with Queen, live at Wembley.

What was your finest hour?

Organising my wedding on the other side of the world this year, while working full-time and living in London.

If you had three wishes, what would they be?

To own a tropical island and private jet, to live closer to friends and family in New Zealand, and to turn back time and relive special moments with special people.
