Rosales, who is currently integrated marketing and communications director for the soft drink giant's Latin America division, will take up the newly-created post from the start of next month.
A spokeswoman for Coca-Cola has confirmed his appointment.
Rosales, who was last year named Cannes Lions’ Creative Marketer of the Year, was featured in this month’s (June) edition of Marketing.
In the exclusive interview he talked of the importance of striking a balance between making Coca-Cola relevant both globally and locally.
He said: "With Coke we focus on delivering optimism to the world, and being in 206 countries we have to think carefully about how we reach this goal in each one.
"How we make our message relevant is key, so this is why we need people on the ground who understand the market."
