His appointment follows a restructure of marketing by C4 marketing director Polly Cochrane, which saw Foraker and Channel 4 creative director Jon Stevens battle it out for the top job across all the channels. It leaves Stevens without a role.
The restructure is part of a wider drive by chief executive Mark Thompson to get all parts of the company working together more effectively.
Foraker will report to Cochrane, and be responsible for the identity and brand campaigns for Channel 4, E4 and FilmFour.
At E4, he developed a very clear proposition for the channel through brand campaigns such as Second Chance Sunday. It is hoped he will contribute a similar approach to the main Channel 4 brand.
Foraker will oversee heads of network promotions for all three channels as well as the work of inhouse creative team 4Creative, alongside its head, Lisa Green.
