WTA plots global awareness drive

The Women's Tennis Association (WTA) is to run a global ad campaign to boost awareness of the women's game.

The ads, featuring stars such as Venus and Serena Williams and Kim Clijsters, will run on billboards and in the national press during Wimbledon fortnight, which began this week.

The executions will also promote the tour's 62 tournaments, which take place in 31 countries and are broadcast on Eurosport.

The ads, created by TBWA/Chiat Day, will be accompanied by lines including 'They may not cook, but they sure can serve' and 'Sure, they do dishes. Big crystal ones'.
