Focus on ... Tour de France

The world's biggest cycling event celebrated its centenary last year, when it was won for a fifth time by American Lance Armstrong. - The course is split into 20 stages, spread over 3000km. It starts in Liege in Belgium and ends three weeks later on the Champs Elysees in Paris. - The tour is watched by 15m spectators, and by a total TV audience of 2bn.

- Armstrong rides for the US Postal Service team. His rival Jan Ullrich represents the T-Mobile team. Sponsors of the Tour de France include supermarket Champion, bank Credit Lyonnais and Nestle Aquarel.
