HP backs Virtual History TV show

Hewlett-Packard has signed a pan-EMEA deal to sponsor Virtual History, the highlight of the Discovery Channel's autumn schedule.

The deal is the biggest ever for Discovery Networks Europe and covers Virtual History's broadcast in 106 countries, reaching 50m subscribers. The two-hour historical documentary will air on 24 October in primetime.

Created by Discovery Channel, Tiger Aspect and the Moving Picture Company, Virtual History has been two years in the making.

HP's sponsorship will tie in to the computer graphics technology that is used to re-create pivotal moments in history. Sponsorship credits in the form of 60-second vignettes highlighting the impact of this technology on the creative arts are being produced for HP by Discovery.

HP has also signed up with Discovery to create co-branded Virtual History brand merchandise.
