Direct choice: Mini

The criteria for my choice of new car were simple - it had to be a model I could zip around town in, that was small enough to withstand my bad parking and had a certain something. As a result, I'm the proud owner of a Mini. After all, if a Mini is good enough for Madonna, it's good enough for me.

So in the midst of some poorly targeted and uncreative mail, I was pleasantly surprised to find a letter of introduction and a passport to the MINIstry of Ownership. This club is an excellent idea, and it feels like a great honour to be included, not least because it is helping to support an iconic British brand (even if it is now owned by BMW).

The passport, complete with a Mini logo embossed in silver on the front, comes in the sleek format of the old-style British passport - and, dare I say, looks far superior to my real one. In fact, I wonder if I could sneak past passport control with my Mini passport instead of the flimsy red document issued by the Passport Agency these days.

After entering all my personal details and those of my Mini into the passport, I now consider myself to be a fully-fledged member of the MINIstry.
