CIM hunts chief in charity review

The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) has lost its charitable status and is seeking a replacement for chief executive Peter Fisk.

The official reason given for Fisk's departure in March was that the CIM was to restructure to comply with Charity Commission regulations, of which it had been in breach. It announced plans to create separate management teams to cover its commercial and charitable activities.

However, in August the Commission told the CIM it was to review its charitable status, and has removed the CIM from its register. It is understood the decision will be formalised when the CIM's board of trustees presents its recommendations to members at the annual general meeting in December.

The CIM is now advertising for a chief executive officer to lead all its group activities once more. The role carries a salary of £90,000 plus performance incentive.
