Channel 4's interactive arm launches mobile games

LONDON - Channel 4's interactive arm, 4Interactive is launching a mobile games format for the first time.

The broadcaster has partnered with digital media company Buongiorno, to provide visitors to its website with downloadable Java games.

Buongiorno is providing licensed content from its catalogue of brands which includes 'Superman 2', 'South Park' cartoon characters and Grand Prix sports news. Visitors to the site can choose from five different games such as 'Spiderman 2', 'Garfield' and 'Olympio Challenge'.

The games can be bought over the phone or via text for £4.50 each. A game of the week will be selected and reviewed on the website to give consumers an insiders guide on how to play each one -- with a user rating to score the games. The service builds on the Channel 4's online games offering.

Andy Taylor, head of 4Interactive, said: "Channel 4 viewers have a strong appetite for online games and it is a sensible next step to provide them with entertainment they can carry with them on their mobiles."
