The Northern Ireland Tourist Board has been dealt a further marketing blow by the departure last week of marketing director Peter Lavery.

The Northern Ireland Tourist Board has been dealt a further marketing

blow by the departure last week of marketing director Peter Lavery.



Lavery, who left to ‘follow up on several business ideas’, will act as

an advisor for the NITB on the Oversees Tourism Marketing Initiative,

(OTMI), until a replacement is found.



It is a second setback to the NITB’s marketing campaign, which has been

hit by the end of the IRA ceasefire.



A pan-Ireland advertising campaign, now running in the UK through the

OTMI, had to be put on hold for two weeks after the recent spate of IRA

bombings in London.



But the NITB remains in discussion with the Irish Tourist Board/Bord

Failte, over the politically sensitive plan to create an all-Ireland

brand to sell to international tourists.



The tourist board says it is currently looking for a replacement for

Lavery.



The new appointment will include responsibility for marketing, sales and

communications.
