London Electricity has launched an attack on British Gas with a
radio, poster and direct marketing campaign offering customers up to
pounds 150 off gas bills. The message ’Strange But True - you can buy
your gas cheaper from London Electricity’ will appear in radio ads,
newspaper inserts and door drops sent to an initial 2.5 million homes.
Media buying is being handled by First City BBDO and direct marketing by
CMB. As part of the campaign, public relations agency Countrywide Porter
Novelli created a giant laser projecting the ’offer’ message onto the
gasometer next to Battersea Power Station.
