Camelot was on the verge of announcing the identity of its new ad agency as Marketing went to press on Tuesday. Observers have hotly tipped both M&C Saatchi and WCRS, although Publicis and Duckworth Finn Grubb Waters are also still in the running.

Kiss FM has ended its relationship with Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, its

advertising agency since its launch. Mike Souter, the radio station’s

managing director, said the split was ’amicable’ and a new agency was

close to being appointed. Meanwhile, AMV BBDO has won the pounds 1.4m

account for the British Heart Foundation.



Former Coca-Cola chief marketing officer Sergio Zyman is to join the

board of Cybermeals, an internet-based marketing service for restaurants

offering take away food. The company launched online ads earlier this

year.



Virgin Net has parted company with ad agency Mother after a year. The

company wants to focus on direct-response marketing, and is looking for

a below-the-line agency.



Travel agency chain Carlson Worldchoice has awarded its pounds 4.5m

through-the-line account to The Silvermills Group, which includes The

Leith Agency and One to One. The media planning and buying account goes

to The Media Business Scotland.



Beeb, the BBC’s online commercial arm, is looking for a sales and

marketing director following the departure of Simon Johnson, head of

marketing. He is leaving to set up an online brand consultancy.



McVitie’s has redesigned its Penguin biscuit brand with creative work by

consultancy JKR. The new packaging features a giant-sized penguin, which

the brand name becomes secondary to.



Holiday company Airtours had reduced the shortlist for its ad account to

Lowe Howard-Spink and incumbent Advertising Principles.



Interactive entertainment firm Interplay has installed a virtual agency

structure to handle its pounds 6.5m pan-European account. Eight agencies

have been hired: Media Insights, Exposure Promotions, Promotional

Campaigns, CBH, RDA, Lexis, Public Relations Partners and Paris PR

agency AKKA.

In last week’s Biggest Brands report, we stated that Heinz had to

withdraw its egg custard with rice variant after glass was discovered in

a jar. We have since discovered this to be untrue. No such recall took

place. Heinz did voluntarily recall a batch of pasta jars in May 1997,

but this was due to a printing error on the label. Apologies.
