Carlsberg kicks off

Carlsberg kicks off



Carlsberg, the official beer sponsor of Euro 96, is launching ‘Win

probably the best seats in the world’ through agency Promotional

Campaigns. There are 1,500 tickets on offer, with Matchballs and T-

shirts for runners up.



CIC plays Countrywide



CIC has appointed Countrywide Communications to handle PR for its

interactive games account. The agency will use consumer-based campaigns

in men’s, youth and national media, to support the launch of games

including Congo, Indian in the Cupboard and Casper.



B&H drives ahead



Benson and Hedges is to sponsor the Total Jordan Formula One team. The

season starts on March 10 in Melbourne with the team kitted out in all-

gold cars.



Ins and outs at IMP



IMP has announced the departure of planning director Beth Baldwin, who

is to become head of strategic services at O&M Direct in New York. The

agency will be seeking a replacement and has also appointed a new

director, Laura Jones, former managing director of Draft Direct, who

joined the company on March 4.



WWAV is on the up



WWAV Rapp Collins Group has announced total sales of pounds 91.2m for

1995, up 19.26% year on year. Figures from the London office show 1995

billings of pounds 102.5m.



Carling black label



National press sports journalists consider the RFU’s handling of the

Will Carling ‘old farts’ affair to be the worst sports PR in 1995,

according to a survey by sports PR agency Collard & Company.



Miller’s lists



Miller Freeman Direct is to act as agent for the databases of sister

companies Miller Freeman Inc and Miller Freeman PTE. The 2.5 million

name lists are drawn from US and Asian circulations of Miller Freeman

magazines.



Impact for Meteorite



A new London-based sales promotion and marketing agency was launched

last week. Meteorite Marketing was founded by Hugh Bishop, former new

business director of Coaxis.



Hilton gets the boot



Hilton International has produced a second edition of its CD-ROM

Blueprint Directory, providing detailed plans of the meetings and

conference facilities of 129 Hilton hotels worldwide. The disk is

compatible with both PC, Macintosh and UNIX platforms.



Barclays picks PR team



Barclays personal banking has appointed Harrison Cowley Birmingham to

handle its public relations, following a competitive pitch. The 1996

campaign will focus on Barclays’ current account, telephone banking and

the Connect and Barclaybank cards.



Relax with Argos



Argos Superstores is launching a money-off voucher promotion in

association with Weetabix. Consumers can make savings on 400 sports and

leisure products in the Argos range.
