Looking back over 2005, the average monthly increase of registrations on the TPS was 389,000. August saw the biggest increase with 770,000 registrations as a result of the BT Privacy campaign. September and October saw the next largest increases, with 418,000 and 467,000 respectively. BT re-ran their TV campaign featuring Jeremy Clarkson in October.
The average monthly increase on MPS during 2005 was 55,000, although this fluctuated from month to month. February saw the lowest increase, with 29,000 registrations, while March recorded the largest with 87,000. It will be interesting to see whether the DMA's new publicity campaign (see DMA Focus, page 51) significantly increases registrations. The initial signs are that it won't.
