Shelter, the only national UK charity for the homeless, is running a
joint Christmas promotion with Virgin Megastores. From 4 December to
Christmas Eve, all Virgin carrier bags will carry the Shelter logo and
customers will be asked to contribute to the charity at point of sale.

Spread-betting company City Index has signed a six-figure sponsorship
deal with Newbury Racecourse. City Index is to build a branded bar

Granada Hospitality, the UK’s largest motorway services group, has
appointed Shilland & Co to handle its public relations. The account
includes promoting the opening of a new flagship service station on the

Freud Communications and Sega have agreed to end their contract at the
end of the year. Freud was hired as Sega’s consumer agency for the UK.
Freud won’t comment but it is understood that the two disagreed over
creative strategy for the Sega brand. Sega was unavailable for comment.
Card with a message
Telecar UK has launched a new phonecard, called Promocard, enabling
promoters to record sponsorship messages onto the card, which users must
listen to before accessing free telephone time.
