Barclaycard has linked up with ITV to launch a branded sporting
awards programme, part of the company’s pounds 6m commitment to
supporting British sport in the run up to the Sydney 2000 Olympics.
The ITV Barclaycard Champion of Sports Awards, to be aired on ITV on
November 1, is billed as a celebration of British sporting passion and
will see Barclaycard as event and broadcast sponsor with credits
produced by BMP DDB.
The programme follows Barclaycard’s decision to invest in British sport
following the UK’s poor performance at last year’s Atlanta Olympics.
The company is donating 120 grants worth pounds 10,000 to sports people
in the run-up to the games.
