Kellogg Europe has handed a large chunk of its pounds 153m media
buying account to Carat following a pitch against the incumbent,
MindShare. Carat picks up the business in Germany, Austria, Switzerland
and Eastern Europe. MindShare retains the business in the UK, Ireland
Reviews are still ongoing between the two agencies for France, Benelux,
Spain, Portugal and Italy, with a decision expected later this
US haircare giant Alberto Culver has lost top European marketer Graham
Fish after 19 years with the company. Fish, group vice-president for
Europe, Middle East and Africa is leaving in March 1999 to work as a
Alberto Culver’s brands include V05.
Guinness has promoted commercial director Stephen Nelson to the position
of managing director, replacing Gary Matthews who is leaving to manage
an international cycle company. Guinness is seeking a replacement.
Del Monte has announced that it is acquiring the Just Juice business
from RHM Foods for pounds 10.5m. From March 1999, Del Monte will take
over the Just Juice, One-Cal and De L’Ora brands and close down the
existing factory. The future for Just Juice’s three-strong marketing
team is uncertain.
BUPA has appointed Barraclough Hall Woolston Gray to handle its direct
marketing activity. It has also shortlisted Duckworth Finn Grubb Waters,
HHCL & Partners, The Leagas Delaney Partnership and WCRS to pitch for
its pounds 8m advertising campaign.

First Drinks Brands and William Grant are withdrawing from the
consortium which launched Virgin Vodka. The product will now be handled
in-house by The Virgin Cola Company.
Haymarket Customer Magazines (HCM) is moving into the medical and
business-to-business markets. The new arm will be headed by Helen
Morgan, who will report to Patrick Fuller, managing director of HCM. The
