The European Movement has appointed an advertising agency to boost
member numbers and campaign for the introduction of a single European
The political pressure group, which draws supporters from across the
three main political parties, has asked McCann-Erickson to come up with
a campaign to recruit more members.
The agency will also be asked to develop a series of campaigns aimed at
encouraging Britons to support the introduction of the Euro - a currency
which could eventually replace the pound.
Debut advertising for the organisation, which is designed to encourage
more members and financial contributions, breaks this week in the
national press with the strapline: ‘Don’t wait for the European
Elections, pick up a pen and vote now’.
McCann-Erickson’s marketing director David Longman said: ‘This is a
challenging brief for us. It followed talks with the European Movement
about its direction and what must be done to win public support for this
