P&G Tambrands chief appointed for UK position

Procter & Gamble has promoted Chris de Lapuente, who took charge of the integration of the Tambrands business, to be its new UK and Ireland general manager.

Procter & Gamble has promoted Chris de Lapuente, who took charge of

the integration of the Tambrands business, to be its new UK and Ireland

general manager.

He joins P&G’s Newcastle headquarters in September, replacing Paul

Polman who is moving to the US to run the company’s North American

laundry and cleaning products division.

De Lapuente, who has worked at P&G since joining the advertising

department in Newcastle 15 years ago, is currently managing director of

European feminine protection products in Germany. He spearheaded the

growth of the Always brand and took on the Tampax brand when it was

bought last year.

Always has shown runaway growth in the UK over the past year, with sales

rising by 13.2%. However, Tampax is experiencing static sales - a result

of a shift in buying habits and the transfer of ownership.

Previously, de Lapuente headed marketing in Spain and Turkey.
