Sweden tucks in to UK
Food from Sweden, a promotional body funded by the Swedish government is
spending pounds 1m on a below-the-line campaign to promote Swedish food
in the UK. It will sell on the quality of products and the ethical way
in which the food is produced.
Arts backing reinforced
National arts sponsorships reached record levels in 1994/95, according
to research released by the Association for Business Sponsorship of the
Arts. It says pounds 82.8m of business support was contributed to the
arts during the year, a 19% increase on the previous year.
ISP increases charges
The Institute of Sales Promotion has upped subscription charges, from
pounds 600 to pounds 850 for corporate members and pounds 300 to pounds
425 for individuals, for members using its legal and copy advice
Demand increased from 40 to 300 submissions per month in the wake of the
Hoover free flights fiasco.
Newky Brown music hit
Newcastle Brown Ale is to launch a music-based consumer promotion in
January. ‘Blow Your Mind’, an eight-track cassette produced through EMI,
will be offered free with five proofs of purchase in 1000 pubs across
Yorks sponsors museum
Yorkshire Electricity has announced a pounds 500,000 sponsorship of the
Royal Armouries Museum. The museum’s Hall of Steel is to be renamed the
Yorkshire Electricity Hall of Steel.
Titan hires Berry Casey
The Berry Casey Creative Consultancy has won the design contract for the
European launch of Titan Watches. Initially on a six-month basis, the
brief is to produce consumer and sales literature for Europe.
Fleishman’s Italian job
Following the announcement of Fleishman-Hillard’s plans to open a Milan
office, Milan-based Theo- dore Trancu & Associates has ended its non-
exclusive affiliate relationship with the US company.
IFA reviews agencies
IFA Promotion is to review its advertising and PR agencies in 1996.
Current incumbents are Hill Murray and Lansons Communications.
Marriott in voucher deal
The 16 UK Marriott hotels, acquired by Whitbread in August, are to start
redeeming and selling Whitbread Leisure Vouchers this month.

Tektronics has appointed Newbury-based direct marketing and database
specialists Intermail, to handle responses and fulfilment on their pan-
European direct marketing campaign.
Askeys bolsters trade
Askeys, manufacturer of ice-cream complements, has appointed SHS Sales &
Marketing to handle its range in several trade sectors in the UK. The
company will continue to handle major retailers in-house.
