Standard Life’s pounds 10m account heads for Leith

Standard Life has appointed The Leith Agency to handle its corporate advertising account, reportedly worth pounds 10m, which covers branding work for its soon-to-launch banking and telesales operations.

branding work for its soon-to-launch banking and telesales

operations.



Edinburgh-based creative shop The Leith Agency, whose existing clients

include Irn-Bru and Tennent’s Lager, won the business after pitching

against London agency WCRS.



Standard Life plans to launch its telesales division, selling financial

products direct to customers, and a telephone-based banking service

offering savings accounts and other financial products, in the new

year.



The appointment marks the final stage of a major review of Standard

Life’s advertising agency arrangements. In September, Judith Donovan

Associates and Scottish agency The Union picked up the below-the-line

and creative accounts respectively for Standard Life’s new banking

service.



Earlier this month, Feather Brooksbank won Standard Life’s pounds 10m

centralised media planning and buying account, and in November, Rapier

Stead & Bowden won the pounds 2m creative account for the new telesales

operation.



No one at Standard Life or The Leith Agency was available for comment.
