Beard takes on his new role in December and will be responsible for commercial strategy and operational management of The O2. He will report to David Campbell, president and chief executive of AEG Europe.
Beard joins The O2 from the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games where he has been director of sponsorship and marketing. He has been with LOCOG for three years.
Prior to his role at LOCOG, Beard helped launch Air Miles in the UK, North America and Europe.
The O2, which will also stage gymnastics and basketball during the London 2012 Olympics, is due to open next July.
