MARKETING MIX: Chase wins Spink place in The Sun

Any clients thinking of cutting up rough with KLP had better think again, especially if they are dealing with art director Matt Spink.

Any clients thinking of cutting up rough with KLP had better think

again, especially if they are dealing with art director Matt Spink.

Spink’s lust for danger knows virtually no bounds - especially after an

enthusiastic pub crawl around Soho.

Anyone doubting his ability to handle a spot of bother can get a

reference from someone who recognises true grit when she sees it: the

BBC’s Kate Adie.

Adie and a few friends were walking through Leicester Square earlier

this month when a scuffle broke out and a man ran off with a handbag

belonging to one of their number.

At that moment, Matt was entering Leicester Square, feeling pretty

mellow after the aforementioned pub crawl, and suddenly heard cries from

what he took to be a maiden in distress.

Realising what had happened, he chased the thief and demanded that he

hand over the bag. Terrified, the culprit did so and ran.

As Matt picked up the bag, he noticed a woman (Adie) clad in evening

clothes pound past him, chasing the thief at a very impressive

Fearing she might be in danger, he stopped her and gave her the bag.

As she turned to shower him with gratitude, he suddenly realised who she

was and why a large crowd had gathered.

Adie described him as a hero and a gentleman and praised his brave,

selfless action. Even The Sun got in on the act with a lavish tribute to

marketing’s own Action Man. Must be those years of intensive training in

the KLP war zone. That or the alcohol.
