Tandy’s marketing director of only ten months has been promoted to the
managing director’s role.
Andrew Fryatt, 33, joined Tandy in March from Woolworths, where he had
held senior marketing and buying roles.
He replaces Eamon Bradley, who is leaving the company to take up a
general management role in the GEC group.
Since his arrival, Fryatt has hired a new ad agency, Young & Rubicam,
and increased the electrical retailer’s marketing activity.
Tandy also went onto TV for the first time in years with its ‘You’ve got
questions. We’ve got answers’ campaign, which aims to broaden the
chain’s appeal beyond a ‘techie’ customer base.
Stores have also been remodelled to accommodate 40% more products.
Fryatt plans to keep the marketing budget at around pounds 6m.
