The firm has hired UK search agency bigmouthmedia to handle search engine optimisation for its global site, plus over 100 local territory sites, which are in the process of being rolled out.
Rentokil recently launched a global online hub and local sites in the UK, Ireland, Germany and Scandinavia. Bigmouthmedia will optimise these, and sites for other new territories once they go live, to ensure Rentokil is high up natural listings on search engines for relevant terms such as 'pest control'.
"We're placing the web presence and our ability to drive customer service through the web at the heart of our strategy," said Malcolm Padley, head of corporate communications at Rentokil. "It's about building direct relationships with customers and driving prospective customers as well."
He added that the firm was also planning to roll out a site for the Initial brand, followed by Rentokil's other businesses.
