NatWest Life is launching a campaign this week to persuade political
parties to address the ‘timebomb’ waiting to explode in the state
The ‘Changing Nation’ campaign is designed to raise awareness about the
growing crisis in the state pension system, which is expected to be
unable to provide adequate support for pensioners in the future.
NatWest Life, along with a number of other financial institutions, is
known to be interested in running elements of the state pension system
and has been lobbying political parties to consider handing some of its
provision to the private sector.
Any move towards privatisation will provoke an intense marketing battle
as financial institutions compete for billions of pounds worth of
Spokesman for NatWest Life Paul Stott said the bank was interested in
running state pensions and would help any future government to find a
solution to the problems of providing pensions.
