Months after rumours died down about Young & Rubicam and GGT, the two
agencies are getting together after all - and the man behind it is
Abbott Mead Vickers chairman Peter Mead.
It won’t be pistols at dawn in the boardroom but on the football field,
where the two agencies will compete in one of eight men’s leagues for
the NABS/Sky Sports five-a-side football on Sunday.
Mead, who doubles as chairman of Millwall FC, drew the teams at the
Football Association last week in the very room where the real FA Cup
teams are drawn every year.
Flanked by Darren Venn of the FA and Richard Hawking of Sky, he plunged
his hand into the celebrated velvet bag and set up clashes such as
CDP/DMB&B, Daltons Weekly/Evening Standard and M&C Saatchi/Zenith.
With kick-off at 10am and presentations at 4.30pm, it will be a real
family day out. Turn up at the London Arena on Sunday (pounds 2.50 for
adults, kids free) or ring Kate at NABS on 0171 723 8028.
