MEDIA: Channel 5 to air FHM Collections fashion ’special’

Top lads’ mag FHM has struck a deal with Channel 5 to launch a masthead programme for its new spin-off title, FHM Collections.

Top lads’ mag FHM has struck a deal with Channel 5 to launch a

masthead programme for its new spin-off title, FHM Collections.

The programme, which airs during peaktime this autumn, will be a

one-hour special called FHM Preview.

The programme will concentrate on the world of men’s fashion without

being a traditional catwalk show.

FHM Preview will initially air as a one-off although there are plans to

produce a regular series if it is successful. It will be produced by

Emap’s own production team on behalf of Channel 5.

Tim Schoonmaker, chief executive of Emap Radio, who is responsible for

developing the Emap Group’s masthead programme projects, said: ’The

actual FHM brand itself is too broad to turn into a successful programme

format. FHM Preview will concentrate on FHM’s treatment of men’s

fashion, but it’s a million miles away from the catwalk shows.’

FHM launched FHM Collections earlier this month as a twice-yearly

fashion magazine.

Schoonmaker confirmed Emap had a number of masthead projects in the

pipeline, but declined to reveal details.

In July Emap ran a single programme pilot for its car magazine, Max

Power, on the Granada Sky Broadcasting channel Men and Motors.
