The Burton Group has appointed Sandee Springer, buying and
merchandising director at Debenhams, to the new role of marketing
services director for the five retail chains that make up the group. She
will be responsible for the Top Man, Top Shop, Burton Menswear,
Principles, Evans and Dorothy Perkins chains.
Ford is believed to have abandoned plans to launch its Lincoln executive
car in the UK. The brand was to have been used to boost the company’s
presence in the luxury car market.
Vernons, the Pools operator, has struck a marketing deal with Premier
and First Division football clubs, which will see pools coupons and
special offers sent out to supporters with tickets and fixture
information. The company has already signed deals with Leicester City,
West Ham, Port Vale and Norwich City.

launch a national cinema campaign, through BDDH, calling for a more
visible role for disabled people in TV and advertising productions.
Whitbread has appointed Holder Wilson Pearce & Bailey to handle
advertising for its Travel Inn Hotels following a pitch against
McCann-Erickson and the incumbent Grey Advertising. Media will be
handled by Frontline.
