BT hires two new senior marketers

LONDON - BT Group is expanding its marketing department with the appointment of two senior executives, as part of an operational restructure at the telecoms company.

Sara Bennison has been poached from Grey London to take up the newly created role of group head of marketing communications, while Brant Long joins from FutureBrand as group head of marketing strategy.

Bennison will assume responsibility for advertising and marketing across the BT Group. She will oversee the company's agency roster, which includes Abbott Mead Vickers.BBDO, Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R, Ogilvy Interactive and

Brant Long, a former director of Interpublic-owned FutureBrand, joins BT as head of group marketing strategy. He will be given a brief to develop and implement a consistent communications plan across the company.

Both Bennison and Long will report directly to Suzi Williams, director of group marketing and brand at the telecoms company. Williams joined BT earlier this year from GCap Media.

The expansion of BT's marketing department follows the creation of two new business units at the company: BT Design and BT Operate. These new units are intended to bring employees in BT's design, operations, IT and networks divisions together into a single reporting structure.
