Mobile phone operator BT Cellnet is trawling for a marketing
director for its Genie Internet offering, as it looks to broaden the
appeal of the service among its subscribers.
Genie is the company’s free ISP service, designed to deliver
personalised content, covering areas such as news, sport and financial
information, to mobile phones.
The candidate will be responsible for all marketing activity, including
co-ordinating PR and advertising for the service, with a budget running
into several million pounds.
They will oversee a marketing team of ten, reporting to Brian Greasley,
general manager of Genie Internet.
The service has around 300,000 subscribers and it is hoping to double
this by March 2000.
DM activity is currently handled by TMW and Bronnercom.
The Genie web site can be found at www.genie.co.uk.
