Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, the UK’s largest ad agency, has snapped
up niche player Clark & Taylor and is to merge it with its offshoot
agency, AMV Advance.
The acquisition, for an undisclosed sum, comes after AMV Advance stole
Clark & Taylor’s biggest account, Sainsbury’s local and regional
advertising, in August.
The majority of London-based Clark & Taylor’s 36 staff will transfer to
AMV Advance’s West End offices at the end of January.
The merged agency will be run by Steve Carrigan, managing director of
AMV Advance, with Jenny Digby, business director at Clark & Taylor, as
business director. Simon Clark, founder of Clark & Taylor, will be a
non-executive director. Charlie Thompson, new business director at Clark
& Taylor, will run the Sainsbury’s account, as well as new business for
Clark & Taylor’s clients include the Tote, BT Retail, the Ideal Homes
exhibition and Granada. It had a 14-year relationship with Sainsbury’s
before losing the account, and has made at least 15 redundancies since
