Siemens mobile phones has announced a pounds 2m sponsorship deal
with Sky Movies. The six-month project begins next week and involves Sky
Premier’s Tuesday and Saturday night premieres, MovieMax’s Wednesday
night premiere and three theme nights.
The Stilton Cheese Makers’ Association is running a pounds 400,000
consumer press campaign through Doner Cardwell Hawkins. The campaign,
which breaks next month, uses the line ’Add a little oomph’ and

St Luke’s animated ’animals’ campaign for HSBC is being extended to
cover life and health insurance. The new pounds 4m burst includes
television commercials featuring an owl and a chicken and press ads
starring an anteater, a platypus and a cat. The campaign is designed to
portray HSBC as an organisation determined to resolve consumer
Vnunet.com this week becomes the UK’s first advertiser on personal
digital assistants (PDAs). The campaign, running on Guardian Unlimited’s
PDA pages, was created and implemented by media21, vnunet.com’s online
Bentalls, the department store chain, has appointed design agency Four
IV to create a new vision for its flagship Kingston store. The
consultancy won the project after a three-way pitch against John Herbert
Partnership and Futurebrand.
Dennis Publishing is planning a pounds 1.2m marketing push behind PC
Gear, its new PC leisure monthly magazine . The title, which targets
18- to 35-year-old males and launches in September, will be backed by
in-store promotions and national press advertising.
Fox Kids Europe has signed a marketing and retail agreement with high
street retailer Hennes & Mauritz (H&M) to build and install Fox Kids
branded entertainment and play centres in 500 H&M outlets across 12
European countries. All H&M stores which sell children’s clothing will
screen localised Fox Kids programming, and the centres will enable
children to interact with leading Fox Kids characters while visiting H&M
stores. The agreement will be supported by a pan-European TV campaign on
Fox Kids channels.
Top of the Pops is to make its debut in Italy and Holland following news
deals between BBC Worldwide, RAI 2 in Italy and BNN in Holland. The
series will be recreated in Rome and Amsterdam, reflecting the local
charts and will be hosted by local presenters, but will have the same
look and feel as the UK show.
United Pan-Europe Communications, the European cable giant, has bought
Liberty Media’s 25% stake in Telewest. The deal was announced via a
series of announcements on Monday involving UPC’s parent company, United
Globalcom, and AT&T-owned Liberty Media, the common shareholder in both

and former producer of TFI Friday, is setting up a new media venture
with Ginger’s head of TV, David Grainger, to offer a combination of new

BBC Sport has clawed back more live football rights, by securing the
exclusive rights to screen all Liverpool FC’s UEFA Cup home games on
Match of the Day Live and Radio FiveLive. The deal, negotiated by
Granada Media Group, Liverpool’s media broker, adds to deals done last
week to screen the FA Cup and England internationals on the BBC.
