Telecoms giant Cable and Wireless Business Networks has hired hi-tech
firm Abacus following a three-way pitch.
CWBN - the C&W division which targets multinationals - had previously
used Luther Pendragon for business-to-business PR and Landmark Corporate
Communications for the telecoms media.
Abacus has initially been appointed with a UK brief, however Anne Moir,
CWBN’s head of marketing communications, said its remit would also
extend outside the UK, including the Asia Pacific region.
She declined to confirm the fee but industry sources suggest that,
annually, it would be around pounds 70,000.
Moir said the chemistry between CWBN and Abacus had been a major factor
in the agency’s appointment.
