MTV may give M2 to digital



MTV Network Europe is investigating the possibility of launching MTV’s

US music service M2 as part of BSkyB’s digital package set to begin

autumn 1997.



FT to launch new pensions title



FT Magazines is to launch Pensions Week, a magazine covering key news

and events in the occupational pensions industry, at the end of January

1997. The weekly magazine will be edited by former Pensions Management

editor Andy Michael.



Carlton buys West Country TV



Carlton Communications purchased Westcountry Television group for pounds

85 million. With Westcountry’s ITV licence for the South West, Carlton

will hold the ITV franchises for London weekday TV, the Midlands and the

West Country.



Selina Scott returns to Sky



Selina Scott will host her own talk show, Selina Scott Tonight on Sky

One. She returns to Sky, where she played an important role in

developing Sky News, after hosting her own pan-European show on NBC for

the last two years.



Profile buys Programme News



Profile Systems Limited has purchased media title Programme News and its

associated services PN Online and PN Research from Stoner Associates.

Following the sale, publisher and editor Marc Brown set up his own PR

company called Stoner PR. His assistant editor Chris Mitchell replaces

him as editor.



Vercoe moves up at RT



Liz Vercoe, assistant editor of BBC Magazines’ Radio Times has been

promoted to deputy editor. She replaces Sue Robinson who has been made

editor.



CNN Airport lands at Frankfurt



Turner Broadcasting Systems has chosen Frankfurt Airport as its first

location outside the US to broadcast CNN Airport Network, its television

service for travellers.



NBC celebrates growth



NBC has announced a 20 per cent growth in distribution of NBC Europe

since October 1995 and a 57 per cent rise for CNBC, launched in March.
