Charity and high street retailer Oxfam has expanded its e-commerce operations by adding a new service, which will enable consumers to buy second-hand goods from its stores via the web for the first time.
The new second-hand goods service now offers collectors' items which visitors to the site can bid for via an auction service run by Yahoo!.
Items featured will initially cover three web-friendly categories: second-hand books, rare coins and records.
The charity has also expanded the number of items from its Fair Trade catalogue available on the web from 30 to around 200 and plans to double this over the next 12 months. Items currently featured include Fair Trade food and a range of handicrafts.
