Capital Radio is poised to appoint former BBC head of sports marketing and business development Andria Vidler as managing director of Capital Radio London.
The company is understood to be ironing out contractual details with Vidler. It is likely to announce the appointment later this week.
Vidler would take responsibility for Capital FM, Capital Gold and events, reporting to commercial director Paul Davies.
She quit her BBC post in October. She was originally recruited to work on the launch of Radio 5 Live and subsequently became the first ever marketer for BBC News.
One of Vidler's first tasks at Capital is likely to be a review of the marketing department, including deciding whether to replace marketing director Vijay Solanki, who quit in July for a position at IPC Media.
She is also likely to have a say in whether Capital Radio London appoints a full-time agency to replace Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, or whether it continues to use agencies for one-off projects.
