Nickelodeon UK poaches Turner marketing chief

Kids' channel Nickelodeon has poached Turner Broadcasting's marketing chief Nicky Parkinson for the role of managing director.

Kids' channel Nickelodeon has poached Turner Broadcasting's marketing chief Nicky Parkinson for the role of managing director.

Reporting to a board representing Nickelodeon UK's joint venture partners, Nickleodeon and Sky Ventures, Parkinson will be responsible for all aspects of the channel's UK business, including Nick Replay and Nick Jr, the first channel dedicated to the under-sevens. She replaces Janie Grace, who quit earlier this year to join ITV as controller of children's and youth programming.

Parkinson was vice-president, marketing, at Turner Broadcasting and was responsible for trade and consumer marketing for Cartoon Network, TNT and TCM in Europe, Middle East and Africa. She also directed off-channel development for Cartoon Network Originals.

Before joining Turner, Parkinson worked as board account director at Grey Advertising and at Saatchi & Saatchi. Turner has yet to announce her replacement.

Nickelodeon is a joint venture between MTV Networks/Viacom and BSkyB. It operates on cable, satellite and digital TV.
