NEW MEDIA: Bestfoods launches 'festive advice' site

Bestfoods, the foods group recently acquired by Unilever, is offering a range of lifestyle advice over the festive period with the launch of a global web site.

Topics from meals and entertaining to decorating will be covered by the site, including festive food ideas and recipes using Bestfoods' range of brands, such as Helmann's, Knorr and Mazola.

Brands produced by other food manufacturers in non-competitive product areas will also feature - although this will initially focus on US suppliers.

Additionally, it will provide information on special dishes, with recipes relating to Christmas, Jewish festival Chanukah and African-American holiday Kwanzee, with topics such as what to do with leftovers, low-fat options, gift-making and traditions.

Bestfoods is also preparing a 'consumer helper' site for the new year, with advice on areas such as resolutions and dieting.

The work forms part of a three-pronged web drive, which began with the launch of a US-focused Thanksgiving site earlier this year.

All three sites have been developed jointly by a Bestfoods in-house team and the London office of new media house BlueWave.

In-house activity is being overseen in New York by director of communications Nancy Sakaloski and internet strategy manager Elaine Moore.

'We're trying to simplify consumers' lives with integrated food solutions,' said Sakaloski.

The site is at brands.bestfoods.com/holidays/christmas.
