Budweiser is giving UK pubgoers the chance to star in UK made 'Whassup' TV commercials, in a stunt for the cult advertising campaign.
Called 'Take 5', the five-week project will involve camera crews filming hundreds of drinkers repeating the 'Whassup' catchphrase in pubs. The best ones will be shown on ITV during the last two weeks of December.
'Take 5' will occur in at least 170 bars in 12 UK cities. Ad agency Inferno, which successfully pitched the concept to Budweiser after an 'anything goes' brief, will also organise and publicise the project.
The campaign will be promoted in each bar for two weeks before the filming, using point-of-sale material and local press ads with the tagline, 'Havin' a Bud, makin' an ad'.
Fifty ads will be created from the clips collected, each featuring 15 people. A few of these will be screened on TV, with the rest will be accessible on the Budweiser web site.
Inferno won the work after a two-way pitch against an unnamed agency.
The campaign begins this week.
