The BBC is reported to be making its debut in big budget movies by creating a pounds 250m film studio that will make film versions of Dr Who and a dramatisation of Jimmy McGovern's Mary Queen of Scots. Age Concern England and the Independent Television Commission have published a new report stating that older people resent being pigeon-holed as the Songs of Praise generation, and seeing older characters portrayed as either grumpy or sweet. Emap Advertising has poached Liz Hoey from IPC to be its new creative solutions manager across its glossy titles, including Elle, Red and New Woman. Live it, the customer magazine for the Conran brand published by Axon Publishing, has won the prize of Customer Communication of the Year, as well as the award for Launch of the Year, in the APA Customer Magazine Awards 2000. Citrus' campaign for Men & Motors carried off the award for Integrated Marketing Solution of the Year, for its work on the magazine of the same name, the gmenmotors.co.uk web site, and associated PR activity. Hello! magazine has been allowed to distribute the issue containing pictures of Catherine Zeta-Jones' wedding, following a ruling on Friday by the Court of Appeal.
