The national airline of the United Arab Emirates now becomes a Platinum Sponsor for the Premiership club joining official travel partner Thomas Cook, official beer Heineken and official secondary ticket provider Viagogo. The seven figure deal will see the Etihad logo and branding appear at Chelsea's Stamford Bridge stadium.
The airline will also gain exposure through the club's match day programmes, website and other official publications, such as the official club magazine.
As part of the deal the football club is now looking into the possibility of undertaking pre-season tours to the UAE and the Far East.
The deal marks the airline's second significant move into sports sponsorship this year. In August, Etihad became the new principle sponsor of Guinness Premiership rugby team Harlequins (Marketing 1 August).
