DIRECT: AXA Sun Life fills post with Centrica marketer

AXA Sun Life has poached a senior Centrica marketer to take on the

role of head of knowledge management, responsible for the financial

services firm's relationship marketing activity.



Mark Hanson, British Gas' head of database and customer strategy, joins

AXA at the beginning of next month.



Reporting to marketing director Frank Wilson, he will oversee AXA Sun

Life's customer insight, customer relationship management, and

competitor intelligence projects. He will also be involved in the

brand's marketing research and planning work.



Hanson is one of eight senior marketers being recruited by Wilson in a

restructure of AXA Sun Life's marketing function. The firm recently

hired David Brooks from Kraft Foods (Marketing, July 19).



AXA Sun Life has also merged its five separate marketing departments

into one as part of the restructuring process.



"Mark's appointment is part of a move toward creating a greater focus on

important areas such as customer insight and competitor intelligence,"

said an AXA spokesman.



AXA Sun Life is the fifth largest life insurance company in the UK and

sells a range of products including pensions and investments. The firm

plans to drop the Sun Life part of its name as it focuses on the brand

worldwide.
