Rolls-Royce & Bentley Motor Cars global marketing director Jim
Campbell has left the car-maker for a conferences start-up after 10
months, citing a dispute over funding of the Bentley marque.
Campbell said he was inspired to leave through "a fundamental difference
of opinion between myself, the board of Bentley and the owner, VAG in
Germany over the level of marketing investment required to build up
Bentley ahead of the next model launch."
Campbell has taken the top marketing post at First! Venues, a small UK
start-up which operates conference centres.
Rolls-Royce & Bentley has since restructured its marketing team.
Marketing will still be led by sales and marketing director Adrian
Hallmark, to whom Campbell reported.
Campbell's duties are being shared jointly by managing director,
Asia-Pacific, Mark Tennant, who is moving up to director of product
strategy, and marketing communications manager David Goggins, who
becomes director of marketing communications. The firm has no plans to
fill Campbell's position.
